Providing a fun, safe and educational childcare program that supports the social, physical, emotional and cognitive development of our children.
Shanty Bay Nursery School is a non-profit, cooperative daycare that has been operating since 1969.
We offer programming and curriculum that is socially and academically enriching for children age 24 months to 5 years.
With a focus on music, literacy and phonics along with play-based learning, children experience a balanced approach to learning.
Our class size is small with a maximum of 16 children. Two teachers work with the children throughout the day.
A cooperative nursery school is run by parent volunteers. Parents sit on a board that meets monthly to discuss school operations and financials. We also host several fundraising events throughout the year in order to keep our tuition costs down.
As a participant in our cooperative program parents are required to assist with fundraising, administration, daily operations of the school and attend board meeting. This allows parents to play an active role in their child’s preschool experience while also allowing us to maintain an affordable, quality childcare experience. If you do not wish to be part of the cooperative program there is an additional cost for tuition and costs to opt out of fundraising initiatives.
Our full day program runs from 9:30am to 3:15pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday during the school year (closed during school holidays and summer).
Two daily snacks and a nutritious, hot lunch are included.
$465/month for co-op families, $565 for non-cooperative.
Our half day program runs from 9:30am to 1:00pm. One morning snack and a hot lunch are provided.
$285/month for co-op families, $385 for non-cooperative.
