Meet our Staff

Rosemary Lucas

Hello! I’m Rosemary Lucas, the new Supervisor/Teacher at Shanty Bay Nursery School.  I hold a Bachelor of Applied Arts Degree in ECE from Ryerson University and I am a Registered ECE. I studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto) and received my Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Music Education.  For over 30 years I have provided music/literary programs for children  in public libraries, a music studio, a community center, a Montessori school, as well as teaching in daycares and nursery schools.

Moving to Oro Station four years ago I joined the Hawkestone Community Singers and I am enjoying my other interest, gardening, with the Oro Medonte Horticultural Society where I am serving as Program Chair.  I am also the Treasurer/Membership Director of the Early Childhood Music Association of Ontario and I am active with St. Thomas Anglican Church here in Shanty Bay.

My Husband and I have two grown children, a Daughter who lives in Japan and a Son who works in Toronto. I am very excited to be here at the Nursery School and I am looking forward to sharing music, books, art and everything in-between with your child!

Juwairiah Sheikh

Hello! My name is Juwairiah Sheikh. I am extremely excited to be joining Shanty Bay Nursery School as an Assistant Teacher for this school year, 2019/2020. I have just finished my studies in the Early Childhood Education program at the Georgian College in Orillia. I had the opportunity to practice in childcare centres as well as a kindergarten classroom. My study of interest has been developmental skills in children with Autism. Working with children and having the interest to make a positive change in their learning experience has encouraged me to pursue a career in this field.

I was born and raised in Montréal, Quebec and moved to Barrie 10 years ago. I come from an educational background of Accounting and Management. I am a mother of two children currently in elementary school. I have been fortunate and was able to do a lot of travelling, which has given me an outlook on children from different backgrounds and their individual learning experiences and abilities.

I look forward to sharing my experience and catering to a variety of developmental skills and learning opportunities in the classroom alongside my Supervisor/Teacher.
